History of Hall
Mapleton Hall was built in 1916 of weatherboard construction on concrete stumps by early settlers who wanted to provide a community shared venue for their growing population. The town of Mapleton was first settled in 1888 and it was a rural area consisting of citrus, pineapple and dairy farms. Also, a timber industry was predominate, i.e. a hardwood mill and three case mills. A large state forest bordered the township which created employment for many locals. Gone is most of the farmland and we have new residents with diverse talents and interests.
It has been lovingly maintained and restored by the community since construction and is held dear to many residents past and present for its unique quaintness and history. It is managed and maintained by the Mapleton Community Hall & Sportsground Inc. Committee and overseen by the Trustees and is situated in the heart of the town.
It is available seven days a week for community hire being used regularly for numerous events, e.g. local meetings, choirs, dances, musical entertainment, bridge, karate, yoga, playgroup, tai kwon do classes, emotions anonymous, quilters and private functions.
